How matching works
For each payment, ePayRecon looks for the person it pays for, in this order:
- Your rules — "always match this payer to…".
- Account numbers in the memo (and family numbers, invoice numbers and units where your type uses them). A mistyped number with a check digit is flagged.
- Names: the payer's name against your people (students, tenants, members…) and their payers (parents, tenants, donors…), allowing nicknames, reversed names ("SMITH JOHN") and small typos; a name in the memo ("for Maya") breaks ties between siblings.
- The AI, if it is on, for what is still unmatched or uncertain. It only suggests.
Each match gets a confidence and a plain reason. High-confidence matches can be accepted in one click; nothing is assigned until someone accepts it.
